Yarrow Part Used & Dosage

Common Names: Milfoil, Old Man's Pepper. Soldier's Wondwort, Knight's Milfoil, Herbe Militaris, Thousand Weed, Nose Bleed, Carpenter's Weed, Bloodwort, Staunchwee, Sanguinary, Devil's Nettle, Devil's Plaything, Bad Man's Plaything, Yarroway. Yarrow was used in the seventeenth century as an ingredient in salads. The yellow-tan flowers have a faint scent and come in one-inch clumps which are often used to add texture to potpourri and as an ingredient in shampoos and hair rinses. Properties and Uses: diaphoretic, astringent, tonic, stimulant and mild aromatic used for fevers, colds, flu, respiratory infections, suppressed menses, dyspepsia, to stop internal bleeding, and the coughing and spitting up of blood. Used to stop a virus dead in its tracks if used at the first sign of illness. It will open the pores freely to produce sweating for detoxification and purifies the blood for the onset of illness, during illness, and is used especially in this manner for measles and other eruptive diseases. Also used for bleeding piles, and kidney disorders. It is also said to help prevent baldness when used as a hair rinse. |
Yellow
Dock Part Used & Dosage

Common Names: Curled Dock, Narrow Dock, Sour Dock, Rumex. Properties and Uses: An alterative, tonic and astringent, laxative, and tonic that has come down from the ancients. Can be used freely as a tonic and laxative in rheumatism, bilious complaints and as an astringent in piles, bleedings of the lungs, etc. Largely used for diseases of the blood to purifier the blood and is used for everything from spring eruption to scurvy, scrofula, ulcers, and chronic skin diseases. Also used in jaundice and as a tonic for the stomach. As a laxative it is unbeatable in its operating without pain, or uneasiness. Said to be especially effective for skin eruptions related to the menstrual cycle. |

Said to be one of the best decongestant herbs to use to decrease secretions and encourage healing of inflamed mucous membranes in all upper respiratory illnesses, bronchitis, asthma, hay fever, and sinusitis. Also used in chronic gastritis and urinary irritations because it strengthens membrane capillaries, and for arthritis and rheumatism. Used for hemorrhoids, and local application to insect bites, wounds, bruises, and sprains. |

Used by the Southwestern Native Americans for hundreds of years to combat the pain and inflammation of arthritis and rheumatism, and to reduce inflammation. Also used to strengthen the auto immune system and alleviate allergies, and in cystitis to break up mineral deposits. |
