Quassia
Quassia amara
 

The is an amoebocide used to treat invasions of giardia in the body.   Also used to treat other amoebae caused illnesses such as dysentery.   A vermifuge for pinworms, and is a general gastrointestinal tonic for poor function.


Queen of the Meadow 
Eupatorium purpureum

 

 

 

 

Common Names: Gravelroot, Joe-pye Weed, Kidney Root, Purple boneset, Trumpet Weed.

Used to flavor mead in the Middle Ages, it also came to be known as meadowsweet.   The flowers have a faint almond aroma, and are used in herbal craft projects, and potpourri.   A black dye is made using queen of the meadow and a copper mordant.


Properties and Uses: Astringent, diuretic, tonic. Used for kidney problems, and ailments of the urinary tract, gravel, dropsy, rheumatism, neuralgia, typhus, and as an aphrodisiac.
