Used as a bitter tonic to improve overall health, and increase the appetite. It increases digestive enzymes and stimulated bile excretion which increases assimilation of proteins and fats. Also used for improving digestion, to strengthen the stomach, heartburn, indigestion, catarrhal gastritis, diarrhea, allay nausea and vomiting, to raise the white blood cell count, fainting, and as a wound wash. This is said to be useful during chemotherapy. |

It is used for feverish and inflammatory ailments, hemorrhage, blood diseases, to normalize menstruation, ease childbirth, promote mental and physical vigor, promote the appetite, digestive problems, stimulate the nervous system, stimulate the glandular systems of the body, coughs, colds, respiratory ailments, dissolves tumors, and to build the immune system. |

Common Names: Eye Balm, Eye Root, ground Raspberry, Indian Plant, Jaundice Root, Orangeroot, Tumeric Root, Yellow
Puccoon, Yellowroot. Properties and Uses: Antiperiodic, antiseptic, astringent, diuretic, laxative, tonic. Used for all catarrhal conditions, as a vaginal douche, antiseptic mouthwash for sore gums and pyorrhea, as a skin wash in all epidermal diseases such as, sores, erysipelas, and ringworm (followed by sprinkling powder on areas), as a natural wide-spectrum antibiotic, to aid the kidneys, an infections of all sorts. It is a slight laxative, and in small doses it is said will alleviate nausea during pregnancy. Mix with boric acid for a soothing eyewash. |

It is said to prevent formation of kidney stones and allows a free elimination of uric acid crystals, and also helps a sluggish prostate and cystitis with a mucus discharge. |

This is said to be the least likely caffeine plant to cause anxiety. |
